Not because it was designed to go wide. Because the truth in it was impossible to ignore. That’s the standard. That’s always been the standard.

WHERE IT COMES FROM

Our founder Ryan Crisman has spent his entire career learning how stories move people, in intimate rooms and at scale, in radio booths and on cinema screens.

For 8.5 years in New York City he hosted and produced a blues and soul show on WNYU 89.1 — one of the great music institutions of its era. Over that time he conducted more than 250 interviews with the architects of American music. John Lee Hooker. George Harrison. Dr. John. Clarence Carter. Ravi Shankar. Junior Wells. Ruth Brown. Dave Mason. Among those, a significant body of work was produced for Dan Aykroyd’s House of Blues Radio Hour — recordings so significant they are now preserved in the United States Library of Congress.

He wasn’t performing. He was listening. Learning how to draw out the truth that was already there and shape it into something an audience could feel.

He carried that discipline into feature film, producing The Wait, starring Academy Award-nominated actor Chloë Sevigny, Jena Malone and Michael O'Keefe. Into branded entertainment, leading the creative execution behind The Return of D Rose, a six-part documentary series for adidas that followed NBA MVP Derrick Rose’s comeback from a devastating injury, and became essential viewing for basketball fans worldwide. Into global campaigns for adidas, Columbia Sportswear and Microsoft.

At every scale, in every medium, the same thing kept happening.

The work would finish. The lights would come up. And the room would rise.

An adidas film on culture and diversity, made for an internal audience, honest and specific, that became a global campaign. A Boost technology launch film that earned a standing ovation before it ever went public. A powerful launch film for Tommy Hilfiger’s CMO, with Tommy himself in the audience, that stopped the room and took them to their feet.

Not accidents. The result of knowing exactly who was sitting in those seats and refusing to make anything less than what they deserved.

In 2020, Ryan founded Ready Hit Play on a conviction that cuts across every scale of storytelling he has ever worked in.

The moments that define companies, movements, and missions don’t happen in feeds or funnels. They happen in rooms. In front of the people whose belief, investment, or action will determine what comes next. And in those moments — whether the room holds twelve people or twelve million — a great story, told with total precision and total conviction, is the only thing that matters.
